Yoong Chun Kay
Hope you guys are getting excited because I know we definitely are. Now bringing to the floor a legendary sass master's intro, here is Chun Kay!
Around 8 years ago, I decided I wanted to try something new. Having the hip hop genre in mind, I gather the courage and told my mum I wanted to learn dance for the first time. About a week later, I’m not sure how or why, I found myself in a Latin dance class, along with a dance partner of 6 years of Latin dancing experience. 2 years after, I got to learn other styles such as contemporary and urban before I ultimately found Flare 5 years ago.
Latin has still been my comfort zone. Coming to Flare, I had the pleasure to choreograph Latin for production with the sexy Tira for the past few productions. This year being my last year in Flare, I wanted to try something different. I wanted to challenge dancers to show a different side of sexiness where it comes from a confidence within. Influenced by different dance genre such as commercial and waacking, along with the confidence factor of drag queens, a commercial latin/waacking piece was born. This year’s piece revolves around one theme in life: Revenge.
“If you can’t love yourself, how in the hell you gonna love somebody else.”
Are you excited yet?
