Our first external class happens this Friday! And if you haven't seen our previous post about external classes, scroll down a little and have a read.
Just to re-hash a little, as a dancer, it’s very important to expose yourself to different genres and individual styles in order to grow so we’ve invited professional external choreographers to come and teach! Let’s give a warm welcome to our first Contemporary teacher, Andrew Liu!
Here’s a little bit about Andrew:
Hi all! We will begin running 'external' classes very soon so we'd like to take a moment to explain what externals are. As a way of providing more avenues for our members (non-members also welcome!) to improve, we are hiring out professional dance teachers from around Melbourne to teach you! These teachers are handpicked by your committee so you can be sure that their expertise will be valuable to you.
These classes will be held over a period of approximately 5 weeks starting from now with around 2 externals per week. These are paid teachers, so to partially cover the cost of hiring them we do charge a small fee of $5 for members and $10 for non-members. Payments can be made via cash or mobile transfer, payable at the commencement of each class. The venues of these externals will be the usual studios that Flare uses.
Taking these classes would usually cost you upwards of $15 outside of Flare and on top of that, you'd potentially be travelling to unfamiliar studios so these classes are a great (and affordable) learning opportunity for experienced and inexperienced dancers alike!
Some additional notes:
Note: this is a MEMBERS ONLY event, but if you're not a member yet, feel free to come sign-up on the day for $25.
With Welcome Week coming to a very successful end, we'd first of all like to extend a warm welcome to all our new members for 2017: Welcome to Flare! Of course, as with joining any club for the first time, it can be hard getting to know everyone, so we've decided to help out (as we do every year) by holding a little Welcome Picnic. There'll be food, activities and Flarians - all the things you'll need to get settled into the club - so come along and say hi!
And if you'd like watch some footage of our recent Welcome Week classes, head over to our Youtube channel.
To celebrate, we are offering FREE CASUAL CLASSES!!
Check the timetable for more details.
Classes are open to everybody until Semester 1, 2019~
